How does it work?

Diagram | How it Works

Images are generated inside the camera using a separate source from a receiver.

To generate the real time C-scan, a large unfocused transducer is excited with a high voltage pulse.

This transducer is a specific frequency, say 5 MHz, but can easily be switched out to work at a variety of frequencies.

Most of our application work is done between 1 MHz and 5 MHz.

The source transducer emits ultrasound into the water filled camera tube and strikes a 50/50 beamsplitter, which redirects 50% of the sound towards the target.
